A Prison Called Home

Michaela Ruby
My mind has only grown into a prison
A cellar where only I know what’s going on in here
A place that I like to call home
Ever since that day I’ve only grown attached to this place
As the days go by I only feel these walls closing in on me
Constantly hearing these whispers within the walls
They only get louder when I’m awake
Constantly reminding me of what I am and who I am
I cannot escape from this place
When I’m asleep my mind is only at peace
I like to call it my happy place
All of the memories that I had in my past life replay
As if I was in a field filled with dandelions
When I was laughing with all of my loved ones
As if the sun would never go down and the flowers would always bloom
Those memories only filled my heart with ecstasy
Maybe one day I could see my family and friends again in the afterlife
I’ll cherish those memories and bury them deep in my mind
I’ll bury them deeper then any ocean
Until the day I die
