maybe love was never a storm,
maybe storms were where love was lost.
I grew up thinking love meant thunder,
I never knew what fear could do to wonder.
you found me when the world felt cold,
when loneliness was all I’d known.
you gave me something I could hold,
a place that felt like home.
I couldn’t understand what made you stay,
so I kept finding reasons you’d walk away.
you called me beautiful, I wondered why,
you saw a star when I saw sky.
I built my storms around your heart,
afraid you’d leave me from the start.
I fought the hands I wished would stay,
then watched my fear push you away.
and when you left, the mirror changed,
or maybe I just saw myself that way.
I changed my hair, my face, my style,
still couldn’t love myself, not even for a while.
I lost myself in every new reflection,
turned every little flaw into perfection.
I changed so much, yet nothing felt new,
every version of me was missing you.
I lost, I gained, I changed my face,
still couldn’t find my hiding place.
I searched for beauty in a thousand ways,
but couldn’t see what I once saw in your gaze.
but maybe you didn’t take my light,
maybe I just lost it from my sight.
maybe the storm that tore us apart
left all its thunder inside my heart.
and now I wonder, when I think of you,
do I miss your eyes, or the girl I knew?
the one who believed she could be enough,
before love became a storm too rough.
