Nightmare

Michelle J
The sweat soaked sheets told of a nightmare,
the stench enveloped the air.
Her eyes were filled with horror and tears,
her mind pounding with all her fears.
Her dishelved body cried for help,
she opened her mouth-no sound or whelp.
The girl alone and frightened,
at every sound her body tightened.
Morning slowly arrived,
she was barely alive.
Finally her mother awoke,
to hear her daughter's final choke
"Where were you when I needed you?"
