Nine Thirty, Kids Asleep

First Verse
The house exhales.
The toys have been herded into their corral.
Somebody's sock is on the stairs and will stay there.

This is the hour we were promised
and we are spending it on our phones,
side by side, saying nothing,
which is, I think, a kind of vow.
