Three for the Morning

First Verse
Kettle finds its note.
The window keeps a gray field
warm against the glass.

Bread crust on the sill.
Two sparrows argue the law
of the smaller half.

Bus brakes down the block.
The whole street exhales at once
and the day is begun.
