Last Day of the Month

First Verse
The rent is a fact. The light is a favor.
I have paid one and spent the other badly.

Still, there was the walk by the water on Tuesday.
Still, there was the phone call that went long.

Ledger of an ordinary May:
some money out, some kindness in,
the balance carried, as always, forward.
