Text Message, Unsent, 2:14 AM

First Verse
I typed it out. I read it back.
I put a period where the truth was
and took the period away.

Then I did the thing we all do -
held the phone above my face
until my arms remembered gravity,

and let the draft become a drawer
in a house I do not visit anymore.

First Verse
2:14 AM is exactly the right time stamp for this.
